Wow. It's been a while.

My two month hiatus is due to the following:
* I started working at Carried Away. It's neat. I get to bake.

* I've been making a ridiculous amount of chocolate and treats and also working on my website.

photoshoot

* I've been pretending I'm a hardcore aerialist.

I also went camping - that was cold. And a Giants game - that was REALLY cold.Besides sleeping, that's pretty much all I've been doing.

This weekend I have a cupcake order so I'll try to post photos. Next weekend I have another cupcake order and the following Wednesday I'll be in an aerial performance. It should be spectacular.

Don't You Love America?! cupcakes

I've been making/selling a lot of chocolate the past week, but on Thursday Mama Silvia became an official US citizen so I made celebratory DYLA?! cupcakes. The recipe for the vanilla cupcake is from Cooks Illustrated courtesey of the cupcakery blog. It has sour cream in it and isn't too sweet. Very nice.

The frosting was simple butter cream -- a stick of softened butter and powdered sugar to taste. These were fun to decorate. I had ordered the little American flags especially for the occasion and since I didn't have any red, white, and blue sprinkles I'll admit that I picked them out of the rainbow ones. It's just how I roll.

The picture isn't the best but it's better than nothing. It was taken on my Chocolate phone seconds before they were devoured.

Behold! The Don't You Love America!? Cupcakes

most brutal storm ever

This looks pretty wicked. It was hailing a little bit ago, and it's been gloomy and rainy all morning. It's crazy since last week was 70degrees and sunny. Crazy California weather. I want to go to Hawaii.

Kale Crisps

For the Kale superfood challenge I made delicious crisps. They're really easy -- I just broke off some leaves, tossed them in a little bit of olive oil and laid them on a baking sheet. Cook 2-3 minutes on each side or until crisp but not burned! Immediately sprinkle with salt and serve. I had these after my morning workout and they were amazing. Very light and crispy -- it's like you're eating supercharged chips. I hadn't made it to the store to make a full breakfast, but if I had I think these would go amazing with a portobello mushroom cap and tomatoes.

Don't be fooled. They're delicious. (I even made a second batch!)

So far I've run 8 miles. The weather's been really nice so I'm hoping to swim tomorrow and start spinning classes next week. Onward!
